Tipton man hurt during robbery in Altoona

A 33-year-old Tipton man was knocked unconscious during a robbery on Chestnut Avenue in Altoona on Friday evening.
The incident happened shortly before 9 p.m., according to the Altoona Police Department.
The victim was in a vehicle in a parking lot when he was struck in the head by an unknown assailant. While the victim was on the ground, a witness observed the suspect “frisking” the victim. The witness called 9-1-1 and the suspect fled the scene.
An investigation revealed the robber took the victim’s wallet, which contained cash.
The suspect was described as a black man weighing 120 pounds and five-feet, 10 inches in height. He was wearing a black T-shirt and black pants.
The unidentified victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries. Police said a blunt object may have been used in the robbery. The release said the victim was hospitalized in fair condition.
