B-A girls edge Lady Damsels

The Bellwood-Antis girls junior high basketball team (3-1 overall, 3-0 JVL) edged the Moshannon Valley girls 26-23 in Juniata Valley League play Thursday afternoon for their third straight JVL victory.
The Lady Blue Devils, paced by eight points by Crixella Jones and a balanced attack with Jenna Nevling, Amanda Grannas and Alycia Hippo each scoring four points, were cruising in the first half, but stumbled and misfired through most of the final two quarters to allow the Lady Damsels back into the ballgame.
“We were ahead 15-4 at halftime so I wasn\’t pleased with the way we played in the second half,” explained Bellwood-Antis coach Chris Walker.. “We have some big games next week and we can\’t keep turning the ball over and missing easy layups. Next week will be a big test with back to back games with Southern Huntingdon and Williamsburg on Monday and Tuesday. I think next week we\’ll find out what type of team we have.”
