B-A girls best Mo Valley in volleyball

The Bellwood-Antis girls volleyball team opened their season with a three-game sweep over Moshannon Valley at Bellwood, on Wednesday for head coach Stephanie Burner and assistant Wendy Snyder.
The Lady Blue Devils won their 25th straight MAC Division III game over a three-year period with 25-12, 25-14 and 25-15 victories over Mo Valley. In the three-year history of the MAC, Bellwood-Antis is 25-0 in their division.
Lauren Carter led the Lady Blue Devils with 17 service points, including 11 aces, eight kills and two blocks. Teammate Lauren Leap added 10 service points, including five aces and Meredith Palmer had nine digs. Nicole Ross had six service points and Haley Crider had five for B-A.
The Bellwood-Antis junior varsity also swept Moshannon Valley with 25-8 and 25-7 wins to record their first triumph of the season.
The Bellwood-Antis varsity will host Glendale on Monday, Sept. 12, while the junior varsity will participate in the Lady Mountie Invitational tournament at Philipsburg on Saturday, beginning at 9 a.m.
