Tyrone Hospital seeking art work to display

Are you a local artist or photographer seeking an opportunity to display your work?
Tyrone Hospital is extending an invitation to local artists to display their work at a gallery to be located on the hospital\’s first floor beginning September, 2005.
Hospital administration was looking for ideas to dress up some of the wall space in the hospital. Some hospital employees came together to work on the project and the result was a plan for an in-hospital gallery.
“This is a very unique way of bringing the community into our hospital,” said Terry Crouse, Director of Radiology, who is working with others on the project. “We think it will make the hospital environment more uplifting for our patients.”
Local artists and photographers are invited to display their work on a first come, first served basis on an eight week rotating basis. The exhibit is limited to photos, paintings, or other flat items that can be hung on a wall. Organizations such as schools or art clubs are invited to submit an exhibit as a group.
Each display may include up to 25 pieces.
The hospital will issue publicity to announce each art exhibit and a kick-off event is being planned for September. Interested artists are asked to contact the hospital prior to June 17 to be added to the hospital\’s exhibit calendar for the year and to be included in publicity and the kick-off event.
Annette Lynn, Director of Social Services who is also working on the project said, “This is a way to improve the ambiance of our hospital and it also gives us an opportunity to showcase local talent.”
The hospital is now scheduling exhibits for 2005-2006.
Artists interested in exhibiting are encouraged to contact Theresa Yanchetz in the hospital\’s marketing office for additional details at 684-1255 ext. 539 or via e-mail at tyanchetz@tyronehospital.org.
