A feature of Tyrone Night

Tyrone Community Night at the Altoona Curve is scheduled for this Sunday, with a 6:05 p.m. start time.
Some of the late Fred Waring\’s music will fill the air at the Blair County Ballpark as a special feature.
Also, Josh Shaffer, a student at Tyrone Area High School will be singing “God Bless America” prior to the Curve\’s fireworks display following the game. Josh will be back at the Curve to sing the National Anthem at a baseball game in September.
Pictured, at left, is Peter T. Kiefer, coordinator of “Fred Waring\’s America” at the Pennsylvania State University\’s Pattee Library. This week, Kiefer presented the Tyrone Area Chamber of Commerce with two CD\’s, one featuring patriotic selections, so that some of Mr. Waring\’s music can be heard the night of the game. He also presented some photos that could be shown on the large screen there.
Persons needing “last minute” tickets may call the Tyrone Community Players\’ office at 684-2782 and leave a message.
A person will be in the Player\’s office at 1019 Logan Avenue (the former Library building) on Saturday between 6-7 p.m. and on Sunday afternoon between noon and 1 p.m. so that individuals may pick up tickets.
It is speculated that it will be the largest crowd ever for the Tyrone Night, so don’t miss out on attending.
