Kelly McCoy recipient of Tyrone Hospital Extra Mile Employee Award

Kelly McCoy, is the most recent recipient of Tyrone Hospital’s Extra Mile Employee Award.
Tyrone Hospital grants the award on a quarterly basis to an employee who demonstrates exceptional performance. Mrs. McCoy works in the hospital\’s Central Registration department.
Her responsibilities include registering patients, receiving and routing calls received at the hospital\’s main switchboard, and she also
provides coverage for the cashier.
The department where Mrs. McCoy works puts her on the hospital\’s front line as her work area also serves as the main reception area for the hospital.
It is an area known for its high interpersonal contact, heavy traffic, and a fast pace.
People who present at the main desk of the hospital seek many different kinds of information.
Mrs. McCoy said she tries to be accommodating to all of the hospital\’s patients, visitors, and employees.
“I was shocked to hear I was nominated and selected for this award,” said Mrs. McCoy. “Especially since I have only worked at the hospital for a few months. I don\’t know who actually nominated me, but I want that person or persons to know how much I appreciate their consideration.”
Even though she is relatively new to the hospital, Mrs. McCoy said it does not take long to be on a first name basis with just about everyone.
“It is very family oriented,” she said.
Mrs. McCoy resides in Smithmill with her husband Scott and her two children McKenzie and Scotty.
She is active in her church and her daughter\’s baton program and also assists her husband in his business.
“The Extra Mile Employee Award is special because it is driven by hospital employees,” said Walter S. Van Dyke, Interim Chief Executive Officer at Tyrone Hospital.
“It is an honor to recognize employees like Mrs. McCoy who have been singled out by their co-workers and recognized for exceptional performance.”
Recipients of the Extra Mile Employee Award receive a commemorative plaque, and an extra paid personal holiday.
