B-A girls fall to Claysburg despite three hits by Forney

The Bellwood-Antis Lady Blue Devils softball team dropped an 11-1 decision to Claysburg-Kimmel on Monday afternoon at Claysburg.
The Claysburg girls came out in the bottom of the first to score three times to take the lead early.
Bellwood-Antis came back with a run in the top of the second to slice the lead to 3-1.
Casey Narehood led off by smashing a triple for the Lady Blue Devils. After Chelsea Kephart struck out, Kerstin Myers scored Narehood with an RBI groundout.
Claysburg kept scoring, coming up with three in the third and fifth and single tallies in the second and fourth to end the game after five inning via the 10-run mercy rule.
In addition to the triple by Narehood, the Lady Blue Devils had just three other hits, all by senior Becka Forney who went three-for-three.
“Casey Narehood hit a beautiful triple to start the second inning,” said Bellwood-Antis coach Alex Sitman. “That was probably the best day at bat for her this year. Kerstin Myers hit the ball to their shortstop to score the run for our only RBI. Becka Forney had a great day at the plate with three hard singles up the gut. We hit the ball well today, but just couldn’t get the big clutch hit to get any more runs in.”
Heather Detwiler struckout two and walked eight for Bellwood-Antis.
Renee Musselman pitched the complete-game win for the Lady Bulldogs, striking out five and walking three.
Sasha Hileman had two hits for Claysburg (8-5) and Lacey Claar had two hits, including a home run and two RBI.
Bellwood-Antis (1-15) hosts Bishop Guilfoyle today at 4:30 p.m. in the first of three straight home games to end the 2004 regular season.
