Warriors Mark man loses sex crime appeal

A convicted sex offender from Warriors Mark Township, Eugene Sellers, has lost an appeal to the state Superior Court to have his conviction and sentence overturned.
Sellers was orginally convicted of sexual assualt against an 11-year old girl in Blair County and appealed the decision based on what the defense cited as testimony problems regarding a previous imprisonment and a police officer’s testimony regarding obtaining information from young female victims.
A Superior Court official in Pittsburgh confirmed today the court upheld the lower court’s (Blair County Court of Common Pleas) decision on March 25. Sellers will have 30 days from that time to appeal the decison to the state Supreme Court.
Neither of the attorneys of record in the case, District Attorney David Gorman or public defender Russell Montgomery were available for comment this morning.
