Tyrone tax service showing support for National Guard

The Tyrone Jackson Hewitt tax service office along with other outlets of the franchise throughout the country are showing support for Army National Guard units stationed overseas.
“This hits close to home for me,” said Michele Brown, the Jackson Hewitt franchise owner in Tyrone. “I have a brother who’s currently serving so this is close to the heart.”
What Brown was referring to is one way Jackson Hewitt has decided to show its support for the Army National Guard. Franchises around the country are displaying a banner featuring the guard logo and race car driver Greg Biffle along with his number 16 car which is sponsored in part by the National Guard.
Brown and other franchise owners are encouraging people to stop at Jackson Hewitt locations and sign the banner and offer words of encouragement and support in a message to the men and women serving overseas.
“People can come in a sign the banner during regular business hours between now and April 15,” said Brown. “After that we will send out the banner which will then be forwarded to those serving overseas.”
Brown indicated the Jackson Hewitt location in Altoona is also displaying a banner for people to sign and show their support.
“The more people getting involved the better,” said Brown.
The partnership between Roush Racing, the Army National Guard and Jackson Hewitt came about last year when it was announced The Army National Guard would be the primary advertiser on Roush Racing’s number 16 car and for Biffle in the Nascar Nextel racing series. Jackson Hewitt was named as an associate cosponsor.
Insiderracing.com reported on its web site the support Jack Roush of Roush racing offered to the National Guard. Roush was quoted as saying the Roush team was thrilled to team up with the Army National Guard and its service men and women. According to the news release posted in December on the Insiderracing Internet site, Roush went on to indicate the importance of the Guard and hoped the association between the racing team and the Guard would assist in recruiting and retention efforts.
Jackson Hewitt has more than 4,900 franchised offices in 49 states and the District of Columbia. The service was found in the mid-1980s and has grown from 22 locations during the last two decades.
Jackson-Hewitt’s Web site currently lists names of servicemen and women as reported to the company by family members and friends.
Locally, the Jackson Hewitt office is located at 1072 Pennsylvania Avenue in Tyrone. The franchise owner, Michele Brown can be reached at 686-0200.
The office maintains regular daily hours during tax season and those wishing to sign the banner may simply stop in to offer their support.
