TAHS students attending FBLA State Leadership Conference

Four members of the Tyrone chapter of the Future Business Leaders of America and the chapter adviser, Sara S. Gardner, are currently attending the 2004 Pennsylvania FBLA State Leadership Conference.
The conference is scheduled March 29-31 at the Seven Springs Resort in Champion, PA.
The FBLA members attending the State Leadership Conference include: Amber Hunter, business calculations; Stevi Medina, computer applications; Jessica Ott, accounting I and Bridget Smith, business calculations.
At the conference, individual, chapter and team competitive events relating to business skills and leadership will take place. Also, the outstanding adviser award will be presented to an FBLA adviser who has made a significant contribution in directing FBLA activities.
At the conference awards ceremony, the American Lung Association, the recipient of this year’s state project, will be given a monetary contribution to be used toward the organization’s programs in Pennsylvania.
On January 30, the students attended the Region 14 Leadership Conference at the Huntingdon Campus of DuBois Business College, along with their adviser Mrs. Gardner.
Those who qualified at the regional leadership conference then advanced to the state competition at Seven Springs scheduled for this week.
According to a press release, the Future Business Leaders of America is a national career and technical student organization whose mission is to bring business and education together in a positive working relationship through innovative leadership and career development programs.
The four members in the TAHS chapter are part of the Pennsylvania membership of approximately 12,000 in nearly 290 schools.
