Registration in progress for Tyrone YMCA spring open basketball league

The Tyrone Area YMCA has recently announced that registration has begun for the spring open basketball league.
Registration is open from now until April 2, and anyone in ninth grade or up is eligible to play in the league. To be registered, teams must pay the required fees.
The cost is $280 per team, and the YMCA will accept the first 10 teams that are paid. There must also be a $50 forfeit fee that is paid, and this money will be refunded back at the end of the season if there are no forfeits for the team.
For team rosters, there is a minimum of five and a maximum of 15 players. Individuals may only be listed on one roster, and rosters are to be completed and turned into the league director before the first game.
For uniforms, every team must be wearing the same colored shirt with numbers, and there are no exceptions to this rule. When a team pays their fees, the team needs to provide the team color at that time to the YMCA. Also, if the team does not wear the same colored and numbered shirts, the game will result in a forfeit.
Games are scheduled to be played Sunday afternoons starting April 11 at the Tyrone YMCA gym, and game times are scheduled between 1-5 p.m.
The top six teams will advance to a single game elimination tournament, and the number one and number two seeds will have first round byes.
There is also a scheduled captain’s meeting on Thursday, April 8 at the YMCA, beginning at 7 p.m.
For more information on the spring open league, contact Tyrone YMCA program director Andy DeArmitt at 684-2740.
This is also a reminder that the annual fund drive for the Tyrone Area YMCA is currently underway.
When contacted by a volunteer, community members are asked to give generously to the YMCA.
