New Covenant Fellowship prepares for a change in leadership

On Sunday, February 8 at their annual church business meeting, Pastors John and Sally Jameson announced their retirement from Pastoral Ministry at New Covenant Fellowship.
Pastors John and Sally founded New Covenant Fellowship of Church 22 years ago, first meeting at the Hollidaysburg YMCA. For many years New Covenant Fellowship was located at the Meadow’s Intersection, following God’s call to Urban Ministry Pastors John and Sally moved the congregation to 714 12th Street where for close to a decade they faithfully ministered to the Altoona community. New Covenant Fellowship Church of Altoona temporarily is meeting at the YWCA located at Union Avenue.
Following Pastors John and Sally’s announcement the Elder board presented Rev. Bob Smith as a candidate to succeed the Jameson’s as Pastor. Bob was elected by a unanimous vote of the congregation.
Rev. Smith has previously served as Pastor of New Life Southern Baptist Church in Erie, PA and served for eight years as Pastor of Community Worship Center in Tyrone. Since April of 2003, Bob has been on staff at New Covenant Fellowship as an Evangelist. He has worked with children as a boy’s club volunteer, cub scout den leader, library director, and children’s pastor.
Bob is co-moderator of the Clown Ministry E-Group. Bob is co-founder of Isaac’s Alley, Tyrone Area Clown and Mime Ministry. He is also a member of the Happy Valley Alley Clown Troupe in State College and the Clowns of America International.
He has completed Training Children Effectively Level 1 and 2 with Child Evangelism Fellowship. Bob serves as vice-president of Cheerleaders for Christ, a National Creative Ministries Fellowship.
Bob’s wife, Kim, is a freelance writer and columnist. Bob and Kim have two children, Valerie, age 21 and Buddy, age 13.
Plans are underway for a special retirement celebration to recognize Pastors John and Sally’s service. For more information on this or any of the programs at New Covenant Fellowship, contact Pastor Bob Smith at or call 684-4354.
