Both local junior high wrestling teams very active on Saturday

The two local junior high wrestling squads split double duals on Saturday morning and afternoon.
In the morning, Tyrone pummeled Bellwood-Antis 69-31, at Tyrone. In the afternoon, also at Tyrone, Bald Eagle Area defeated the Little Eagles 61-30 to hand Tyrone just their second loss of the season to go with 10 wins, while the Bellwood-Antis junior high moved south to Bellwood where they rallied from a 39-6 deficit to pull out a 45-42 victory.
Anthony Romano (90) pinned Don Partner and Josh Miller followed by decking Kyle Shawley at 95 to open the Tyrone- Bellwood-Antis dual, wrestled at the same time as the two schools’ varsity match-up was being wrestled on another mat.
Blue Devil Ricky Shawley picked up a forfeit at 100, and teammate Dustin Pruznac decisioned Jeremy Barlett 4-2 at 105, to close the team score to 12-9.
Tyrone then took off with seven straight six-point wins to swing the score to 54-9 in their favor.
Josh Graham pinned T. J. Byers at 110, Justin Schopp pinned Jabree Cruz at 122, Jacob Smerekar decked Ricky Tilley at 130, J. P. Gaines pinned Jimmy Watters at 138, Donnie Conrad decked Dan Pielmeier at 145, and James Updike showed Chad Schilling the lights at 155. Shayne Tate picked up a forfeit at 115.
Bellwood-Antis outscored the Little Eagles 22-15 over the last seven weight classes, but Tyrone had already put the team victory in the bag.
Boe Latchford pinned John Markel at 165, for the Little Blue Devils, Andy Martinez decked Aaron Delay at 185, Tyler McCracken pinned William Shauf at 75, and Tim Collier won by a 15-2 major decision at 85.
Tyrone wrestlers Josh Wright pinned Caleb Stephens at 210, Brandon Oswalt pinned Cody Smith at 250, and Cody Weaver decisioned Trey Mock 7-3 at 80.
In the afternoon, Cody Weaver (75) and Josh Wright (210) won by forfeit for the Eagles, Anthony Romano (90) and Josh Graham (110) won by fall and Donnie Conrad (145) and John Markel (185) won regular decisions against Bald Eagle Area, which finished the season 13-4.
At Bellwood, the Portage junior high won all but one of the first nine weight classes and that one was a forfeit to Ricky Shawley at 100 with no match at 115.
Boe Latchford began the B-A comeback with a pin at 165. Caleb Stephens picked up a forfeit at 185. Andy Martinez pinned Travis Masidyn at 210. Chad Smith (250) and Tyler McCracken (75) each received a forfeit. Trey Mock edged his opponent 8-6 at 80, and Tim Collier (85) and Don Partner (85) received forfeits to pull the Blue Devils into a 45-44 win.
Mock scored a late takedown in his match for the win and the Portage coach had received a coaches’ warning by the referee for complaining about scoring during that match at 80 pounds. Following completion of the dual, the Portage coach again came over to the referee and complained drawing a one-point team penalty. Not satisfied, the Portage coach kept complaing, drawing another team point penalty, hence the official score was reduced to 45-42 in favor of Bellwood-Antis.
