Tyrone junior high girls sweeps P-O

The Tyrone junior high girls basketball team returned from Philipsburg on Thursday with a 50-17 smashing of the Philipsburg-Osceola Lady Mounties.
Liz Tepsic led the way with 14 points and 11 rebounds and got plenty of help. Stefani Bryan scored 10 points and had 10 rebounds, Kayla Corle scored in double figures with 10 and pulled down eight rebounds, and Lindsay Christine added eight points and eight boards.
“This was a good game for our girls,” said Tyrone coach Kerry Naylor, who saw his team improve to 4-6. “We know that for us to win, we have to play hard for four quarters. Tonight we did that on defense, but were slow to get started on offense. We missed a ton of easy layups in the first half. In the second half, offensively we did much better. The girls answered the call and played well I the second half.”
The Tyrone seventh and eighth graders won for the seventh time in 10 ballgames by downing their Philipsburg-Osceola counterparts 31-3.
Lindsay Christine scored 12 points and had six rebounds, Sarah Halter scored seven and had nine rebounds and Kassie Faretta had six steals.
“The girls were very excited for their game,” said Naylor. “They ran the floor well and played a good ballgame.”
