Search for borough manager moves on

Since announcing in late February that it will re-advertise for a new borough manager, Tyrone Borough received just four new applications for the position. The deadline for the applications was Monday.
“We’re really expediting this process,” said Mayor Patricia Stoner. “We want to get a new manager on board and working with us.”
Stoner said she had hoped the new manager would have been onboard already, citing her desire to have him or her work with the new budget. She’s now hoping to have the position filled by early December at the latest.
Council had advertised the position nationally earlier this year, and in September, opened 27 applications. From there, the governing body whittled the pool to four, conducted interviews, and chose the best two candidates as possible hires.
After one of the candidates was offered the position, but declined for work elsewhere, council decided to broaden the pool and re-advertise.
Stoner said the other candidate, who was not offered the position could still be in the running. Stoner said the candidate has re-enrolled in classes in Nebraska, but would be available again in December.
Stoner said councilmembers will have a chance to review the applications before a meeting is established for the leaders to choose which candidates to interview.
The four new candidates all reside in Pennsylvania – Altoona, Vintondale, Lock Haven and Pittsburgh.
