Blue Devil spikers outlast Lady Damsels

The Bellwood-Antis girls volleyball team traveled to Moshannon Valley on Wednesday night.
The Lady Blue Devils vanquished Moshannon in five games to improve their record to 9-1. Bellwood-Antis won the first two games 25-17, 25-15, but the Lady Damsels came back 25-13 and 25-18 to send the match to the ffith game. B-A was able to put themselves in the victory column with a 15-9 decision in game five.
“Tonight was a very close match against Moshannon Valley,” said Bellwood-Antis coach Jennel Miller. “We started off very strong but then began to let off in the middle. The girls were able to pull together, pick up their offense, and win the fifth game to take home the match. I was very pleased to see them fight for the win.”
Stephanie Hatch led the Lady Blue devils with 20 service points, including six aces, eight blocks and seven kills. Lauren Carter had seven blocks, 11 kills and 10 digs. Ashley Edevane added 10 digs and Elyse Schreckengost added 12 points.
The Bellwood-Antis junior varsity also won for the ninth time in 10 matches, defeating Mo Valley 25-11, 20-25, 15-4.
Ashley Oswald had 11 points and two kills and Meredith Palmer had five kills.
B-A hosts their own Bellwood-Antis Invitation on Saturday, beginning at 9 a.m., then travels to Glendale on Monday for a match beginning at 6 p.m.
