Area marching bands keep on rolling

This past weekend, the Tyrone Marching Band and Bellwood Blue Devil Band competed at the Williamsport Invitational.
Seventeen bands competed, with Tyrone competing against Johnstown, DuBois, Indian Valley and Wyoming area in Group II.
The Golden Eagle Band came away with a score of 84.4 – good enough for second place – and awards for Best Percussion and Best Drum Major.
Wyoming Area came away with the top score of 85.35 and the award for High Music. It tied with DuBois for High Marching.
The DuBois band came in third with a score of 82.65 and the award for High Auxiliary, to go along with sharing High Marching.
Johnstown came in fourth place with a 80.9 score, while Indian Valley finished fifth, scoring 78.45.
The Blue Devil Marching Band of Bellwood competed against eight other bands in Group I. It finished second with an 88.2 score, just .4 behind winner Pittston (88.6).
Bellwood received the award for High Marching, while Pittson took High Auxiliary.
Third place finisher, Lake Lehman, scoring an 88.0, took awards in High Music, High Percussion and High Drum Major.
Both bands will be back in action this weekend, making the trip to Lackawanna County Stadium to take part in the Pocono Mountain Invitational.
