See You At the Pole rally slated for tomorrow at Church of the Good Shepherd

Tomorrow evening at 6:30 p.m. the Church of the Good Shepherd will be hosting a community-wide See You At the Pole rally.
The purpose of the event is to prepare for Wednesday, September 17 at 7 a.m. when students world-wide, including here in Tyrone, will stand around their school flag-poles to pray for their school, community and world.
According to youth leader at the Church of the Good Shepherd Laura Stine, the rally that is scheduled for tomorrow at the church will feature the praise team from Grace Baptist Church, Church of the Good Shepherd Pastor Andrew Bradley as speaker, and area teens explaining the idea behind See You at the Pole to all those in attendance.
The rally is expected to end by 9 p.m. with a prayer walk to the Tyrone Area High School.
Stine said the participating kids are promoting the rally at the church and See You at the Pole event at the high school by handing out bright orange bracelets that read, “See You At the Pole.” She said 400 bracelets have been ordered and are expected to be handed out before both events.
Last year it was estimated that 50 people attended the rally at the Church of the Good Shepherd and then approximately 30 kids attended the See You At the Pole event at the high school.
This year the participants have set a goal and want at least 100 kids to take part in the See You At the Pole prayer event on Wednesday morning.
The Church of the Good Shepherd also offers a youth group that meets at the church every Sunday from 6-8 p.m. There is a girls’ and guys’ bible study that meets on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. and a tentative girls’ worship dance team.
One of the goals for the youth group is that they are trying to transform the basement of the church into a youth room.
Another activity, the Fifth Quarter, which is sponsored by the Church of the Good Shepherd is scheduled after every home Tyrone football game. This is an event where area kids can join in fellowship at the church after football games and enjoy activities and entertainment.
For example, after the Tyrone-Huntingdon football game, 80 kids were at the church to make a giant ice cream sundae. Another scheduled Fifth Quarter event will be a movie after the Tyrone Homecoming football game.
