New dance studio to open in Tyrone

Proprietor Lindsay Folk of Altoona is excited about the scheduled opening on September 2 of her new dance studio, Dance Fusion, located on 10th St. in Tyrone.
The studio will offer numerous styles of dance including ballet, point, lyrical, tap, jazz, modern, hip-hop and musical theater. There will be dance classes available for ages three to 18 as well as an adult class that will be offered this year.
“I’m going to be offering quality and affordable classes,” said Folk of the purpose of the new studio. “My motto is to promote positive self-image and positive self-esteem and have fun while doing it.”
There is a scheduled open house and registration for interested individuals to come and check out the new dance studio on August 18 and August 19 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Joining Folk at the new studio will be dance instructor Annie Young of Bellwood, and two more instructors will be hired before the opening of the studio.
For the actual studio itself, there was much renovation that needed to be completed. After the Tyrone Borough approved the project, Folk’s father, John Folk, immediately started work on the dance floor in the studio.
The oak had to be cut and sanded, and the hard wood floor had to be leveled. A partition was constructed with a door and windows. The floor is expected to be finished by today and then Folk’s father will be able to put varnish on the floor. The mirrors for the studio are expected to arrive on Friday.
Folk said she would especially like to thank her father for all the hard work and time he has dedicated to this project.
Once classes start on September 2, the regular hours will be Monday through Thursday from 4 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. There will also be some Saturday classes.
“I’m really excited, and I invite everyone to the open house to check it out,” said Folk.
