Gertrude Sue Cain

Mrs. Gertrude Sue Cain, age 98, formerly of 427 W. 16th Street, Tyrone and a guest at the Moran Nursing Home, Bellwood, died Thursday, August 14, 2003 at 2:25 a.m. at the home.
She was born May 28, 1905 in Tyrone, the daughter of David W. and Ada A. Sims Budd. She was twice married and both husbands preceded her in death. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Robert M. (Janet) Boytim of Tyrone; two granddaughters – Sue, wife of Kenneth C. Brubaker of Williamsburg, PA and Amy B., wife of Grady W. Baney of Warriors Mark; five great-grandchildren – Bonnie B. Imler, wife of Jeffrey Imler, Hollidaysburg; Lynne M. Bronson, wife of Jim Bronson, Somerset; Derek M. Baney, Fort Bragg, NC; Jared N. Baney, Tyrone and Erin M. Baney, Warriors Mark; and three great-great grandchildren – Gabriel B. Imler, Kendrick A. Imler and Madelyn C. Bronson. She was predeceased by two great grandchildren, two sisters and two brothers, one of whom was killed in action in World War II, her son-in-law Robert M. Boytim and was the last of her immediate family.
Mrs. Cain was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd, the Excelsior Lodge No. 219, the Tyrone Hospital Auxiliary and the Senior Fellowship of the church. She retired in March 1975 as a licensed practical nurse at Epworth Manor after 17 years of service. She enjoyed reading, crocheting and doing for others. She crocheted 1000 baby blankets for the Church World Service.
Funeral service for Gertrude Sue Cain will be Monday, August 18, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of the Good Shepherd with Reverend Andrew T. Bradley and Reverend Norman E. Huff officiating. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery. Friends may call at the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc. on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Monday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Church of the Good Shepherd.
