84th annual B-A community picnic and 2003 all-class reunion set for Friday

Thousands of Bellwood-Antis residents and alumni of the Bellwood-Antis School District will converge on DelGrosso’s Amusement Park for the eighty-fourth annual Bellwood-Antis community picnic and 2003 all-class reunion scheduled for Friday, July 18.
A variety of events are planned for the day, starting at 10 a.m. with the twelfth annual Bellwood-Antis Championship golf tournament open to youths grades kindergarten through twelfth grade.
Between 10:30 a.m. and 7 p.m., free all-day waterworks, rapids and rides passes will be distributed at the red and white tent to all Bellwood-Antis School District students in grades pre-school through 2003 graduates and school age children of graduates who have registered for the all class reunion.
Other events throughout the day include an all class reunion adult golf tournament at 11:30 a.m.; children’s games at 2 p.m.; Lions Bingo from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.; the Farm Show chicken bar-b-que at 5 p.m.; the tenth annual Bellwood-Antis Star Search sponsored by First Commonwealth Bank and the Bellwood-Antis Lions Club at 5 p.m.; the Hometown Raffle drawing at the conclusion of Star Search; recognition of the Bellwood-Antis baseball state champions at 5 p.m. and fireworks at 10 p.m.
President of the Community Picnic Committee Sue Johnson said the event is sponsored by the community picnic and Bellwood-Antis businesses.
She also said the community picnic has grown over the years, especially the interest in both the Star Search that showcases local talent and the Hometown Raffle that showcases local artisans. The fireworks at the end of the night make the event complete.
Chairman of the Hometown Talent Raffle Committee Cate Fraser said there are numerous items created and donated by Bellwood-Antis artisans for this year’s Hometown Raffle. The items that are raffled off are used as a fundraiser for the community picnic, and this year specifically for the fireworks.
Some of the items include quilting, silk arrangements, afghans, fishing flies, ceramics, wood pieces and other art work.
