Shirleysburg infant dies after being struck by truck

A 13-month-old Shirleysburg girl died as a result of head trauma after being struck with a truck at 5:43 p.m. yesterday.
The incident occurred at a residence off state Route 475 in Cromwell Township in Huntingdon County.
Police said Micheala Dawn Hinton was playing in the yard at the residence when 34-year-old Stephen Howard Brown of Rockhill Furnace was prepaing to leave in his 1994 Ford F-150. Police said Brown was momentarily distracted and the child walked in front of the truck. Brown ulled forward and struck the child with the vehicle’s front tire.
Hinton was transported to JC Blair Memorial Hospital by Orbisonia/Rockhill Ambulance, where she was pronounced dead by Huntingdon County Coroner Ronald Morder.
