Tyrone buys new sewer van and sells old back hoe

Last night at the Tyrone Borough Council meeting, the body voted to purchase a new van for the sewer department and sell the old water department backhoe.
The van, a 2003 Ford E250 van was the low bid of $17,092.28 from Hoffman Ford and the backhoe was sold to Laurel Management for $19,045.
Most of the meeting concerned house keeping matters.
The council voted to:
• approve disposal of old computer equipment through Reclamere of Tyrone. The cost to the borough for this project is $211.50;
• approved additional work to Streetscape. The work would be on 10th Street near the VFW. With the approval, the borough agreed to a $13,50 engineering fee to be paid to Innovative Consulting Group;
• approved the use of Reservoir Park facilities for the Tyrone Area Community Organization. The group will hold a fish rodeo April 19 from 8 a.m. until noon and the Easter Egg hunt at 2 p.m.;
• approved an administrative agreement for Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) with Improved Dwellings of Altoona (IDA);
• approved CDBG program modifications.
All were approved unanimously.
Council also passed four resolutions last night.
Resolution 2003-04 names the president and vice president of council as signatories for the borough. Resolution 2003-05 approves the policy for disposal of borough records. Resolution 2003-06 designates authorized individuals to execute bank documents. The need for the new resolution was due to Citizens Bank taking over Mellon Bank’s holdings. Resolution 2003-07 authorizes the submission of the 2003 CDBG application.
The 2003 CDBG request includes $12,000 to IDA for general administration, $4,000 for Tyrone general administration, $1,000 for an audit, $6,000 for enterprize zone activity and $111,817 for recreational facilities – improvements to the Tyrone community swimming pool.
There was a CDBG public meeting on March 26, 2003 at the Tyrone Municipal Building. No public was present for the meeting.
Council also ratified adjustments to the fiscal year 2000 and 2001 CDBG.
The final application must be submitted to DCED by April 25, 2003 describing the proposed use of funds.
