Tyrone FFA students show their community support

Tyrone High School agricultural students are donating their time and resources to help a member of their community.
Students in the class, Independent Agricultural Topics, are engaging in a project to provide general maintenance and lawn care to the home of Betty Shawver. The students, who are also FFA members, consist of Ryan Clark, Jesse Snyder, Lyndsay DelBaggio and Ashley Ruscio. Their project will take place during the months of April and May.
These FFA members were inspired during the annual FFA banquet when Mrs. Shawver, who’s husband passed away last summer, mentioned that she needed to do some spring cleaning and repairs around her house. Some of the FFA students overheard this statement and took the initiative to, as Jesse Snyder stated “return the favor to a very nice lady.”
Shawver has supported Tyrone FFA through many generous donations over the years, including the Denise Shawver Memorial Award. This award is given to a senior FFA member who will not accept anything but the best. This is the attitude expressed by these young people.
