Quick work at Tyrone School Board

The Tyrone Area School District Board of Directors held a short meeting last night to conduct routine business.
In the meeting, the board voted unanimously to approve:
• seven field trips for students of the district;
• named Cheryl Morrissey as the volunteer assistant majorette advisor. Morrissey is substituting for Merle Louise Ammerman, who recently had back surgery;
• accepted the resignation of kindergarten teacher Dorothy Habecker;
• accepted the resignation of senior high honor society advisor Suzanne Burkett;
• approved the additions to the substitute teacher list for the current school year.
The board voted to hire Erica Marshall by a 8-1 vote as a middle school math teacher for the 2003-04 school year. Marshall will start with a salary of $31,000 and full benefits.
Board member Pete Dutrow voted against the hire.
During the discussion period, Dutrow made note to the administration that he would like to see the qualifications of the potential hire before the candidate comes up for a vote.
The meeting ajourned and the board reconveined in executive session to discuss personal issues.
