Tyrone junior high knocks off Lewistown

Making the long trip to Lewistown to take on the Little Panthers yesterday wasxn’t the easiest thing to do for the Tyrone boys junior high basketball team. The Baby Eagles made the ride home a little more enjoyable on Thursday, however, coming away with a 40 – 33 victory.
Tyrone broke out to an early lead, and increased it to 24-14 going in at the half, thanks to 3 foul shots by Byron Kost, who was fouled shooting from three-point territory, as the second quarter buzzer sounded. Lewistown came out determined, but the Baby Eagles never let them get any closer than 7 points in the second half.
Adam Shaffer was high man in the scoring column with 10 points. Jim Gillam followed with nine, and Josh Clark had seven.
The Baby Eagles, now 7 – 2 on the season, host Indian Valley today at the Tyrone Area High School gym. Gamer time is set for 4 p.m.
